The cheapest way to use Seedance depends on which Seedance you actually need. If any Seedance will do, the cheapest published rate we could read on 2026-08-17 is Seedance 1.0 Pro Fast on fal.ai — “roughly $0.245” for a five-second 1080p clip, about $0.049 per second. If you need the current flagship, Seedance 2.0 on the official BytePlus API is $0.374 per second at 1080p and $0.070 per second at 480p. If you need to spend nothing, Dreamina’s free daily credits are the only allowance ByteDance itself publishes.

Those three answers sit an order of magnitude apart, and the reason the internet cannot agree on a Seedance price is that operators quote in five different units: per clip, per second, per million tokens, per credit, and per month. This page converts every public rate we could verify into a single unit — US dollars per second of output video — so the channels can be compared without arithmetic on your side. The conversion rules are written out below so you can check them, and where a channel cannot honestly be converted, it is left out of the table rather than estimated into it.

Two things this page is not. It is not a plan-by-plan breakdown of Dreamina’s subscription tiers or credit costs — that lives in our Seedance pricing review. And it is not a survey of the free routes; the free-tier question is answered in full in Is Seedance 2.0 free?. This page is the cross-channel unit-cost conversion, nothing else.

Seedance Cost Per Second: Every Channel We Could Verify

All figures are list prices in US dollars, per second of output video, text-to-video, no reference video attached. The date column is when we last read the number on the operator’s own page.

Four readings come straight off that table, and none of them is the one people expect.

The cheapest Seedance is an old Seedance. Every rate under $0.10 per second at 1080p belongs to the Seedance 1.0 family. If your workload is B-roll, social filler or storyboard drafts, the version gap is worth more to you than any channel negotiation.

Seedance 2.5 Turbo undercuts Seedance 2.0 at 1080p. On WaveSpeedAI, 2.5 Turbo is $0.22 per second at 1080p while plain Seedance 2.0 on the same platform is $0.60. A newer model being cheaper than the one it succeeded is unusual, and it means “use the older model to save money” is not a rule you can apply blindly across the whole lineup.

The official API is cheaper than the reseller for the same model. $0.374 versus $0.600 per second at 1080p for Seedance 2.0. Details in the section below.

4K is not a premium tier, it is a different budget. Seedance 2.0 at 4K is $0.778 per second on the official rate card — eleven times the 480p rate. A single fifteen-second 4K clip costs $11.67, which would buy you two and a half minutes of 480p output instead.

How We Converted Everything to a Price Per Second

The conversion is the part that usually goes wrong, so here are the exact rules used above. If you disagree with one, you can recompute the affected row rather than discard the table.

Rule 1 — divide the published clip price by the output duration. Where an operator publishes a price for a five-second clip, per-second equals that price divided by five. This is only valid where the operator states that billing is prorated per second. WaveSpeedAI states it explicitly for Seedance 2.0 (“prorated per second”) and publishes a per-second column of its own for Seedance 2.5, which matches our division. Replicate publishes per-second rates natively, so no conversion is applied to those rows at all.

Rule 2 — use the operator’s own per-clip reference figure, not token math. BytePlus ModelArk and fal.ai both bill per token, where tokens are a function of pixels, frame rate and duration. Deriving a per-second price from a token rate requires assuming a frame rate the operator has not committed to, so we do not do it. Instead we use the per-clip reference prices those operators publish for a defined clip and divide by its stated duration. That is why the fal.ai rows have gaps: fal publishes an anchor for a 1080p five-second clip and a per-million-token rate for everything else, and we are not going to convert the second one for you.

Rule 3 — reference videos are billed on counted seconds, not output seconds. This is the single biggest source of underestimation. When you attach a reference video, WaveSpeedAI bills Seedance 2.0 and 2.5 across “reference video duration + output duration”, so a five-second output with a five-second reference is billed as ten seconds. The table above assumes no reference video. The reference-video rates get their own section below because they are not comparable to the headline numbers.

Rule 4 — credit systems are not converted at all. Dreamina bills in credits and publishes no per-clip credit table for Seedance. Converting a monthly subscription price into a per-second cost would require inventing a clips-per-month figure, and that invented number would drive the entire result. Dreamina is therefore absent from the per-second table by design, not by oversight. If you want to model subscription spend, our Seedance credit calculator does that job with your own assumptions visible.

Rule 5 — list prices only. No annual discounts, volume tiers, promotional offers or account-level rebates are folded in. WaveSpeedAI, for instance, operates four account levels keyed to the size of a single top-up; those are ignored here so that every cell is a price a new account actually sees.

Seedance 2.0: The Official API Costs Less Than the Resale Layer

For the current flagship model, there are two prices you can read on a public page, and they are not close.

Route5s clip at 1080pPer secondWhat you needChecked
BytePlus ModelArk (official)$1.87$0.374BytePlus account, API integration2026-07-23
WaveSpeedAI (reseller)$3.00$0.600Email signup, web UI or API2026-08-17

The official rate card is roughly 38% cheaper per second. That gap is the price of not integrating: WaveSpeedAI gives you a browser interface, a single API surface across many models, and a $1 starting balance, and it charges a margin for all of it. Whether that is worth $0.226 per second depends entirely on your volume. At ten seconds of output a day it is noise — about $15.82 a week. At ten minutes of 1080p output a day it is roughly $136 a day, or north of $4,000 a month, in pure convenience fee.

The full official rate card, including the cheaper Fast and Mini tiers and the reference-video surcharges, is documented in our Seedance API guide, which also covers the token formula, the model IDs that actually exist, and the billing floors. One BytePlus billing rule is worth repeating here because it changes real spend: you are only charged for successful generations — failures, including content-moderation rejections, are not billed (BytePlus, data checked 2026-07-23). Resellers do not all publish an equivalent rule, so a channel with a higher headline rate and a no-charge-on-failure policy can still come out ahead on a prompt-heavy workflow.

One caveat on the BytePlus figures. When we re-pulled the ModelArk pricing documentation on 2026-08-17, the page returned HTTP 200 but rendered no HTML table — zero table elements in the served markup, because the docs site builds its tables in the browser. The BytePlus numbers above therefore carry their last cell-by-cell verification date of 2026-07-23 rather than today’s. We would rather show you a stale date than a fresh-looking number we did not actually re-read.

Seedance 2.5 Pricing, and Why Turbo Changes the Answer

WaveSpeedAI is the clearest public rate card for Seedance 2.5 we could read on 2026-08-17, and it publishes two tiers with very different economics.

Tier480p720p1080p4K
Seedance 2.5 (per second)$0.18$0.36$0.90$1.80
Seedance 2.5 Turbo (per second)not offered$0.20$0.22not offered

Read the Turbo row twice. At 1080p, Turbo is $0.22 per second against $0.90 for the standard tier — a 4.1x difference for the same model family on the same platform. Turbo’s published grid also runs out to thirty seconds ($6.60 for a 30-second 1080p clip), where the standard tier at the same length and resolution is $27.00.

The standard tier’s resolution curve is close to Seedance 2.0’s official one — 1080p at 2.5 times 720p and 4K at twice 1080p, against 2.46 and 2.08 on the BytePlus card. What differs is the base. Comparing like for like on the same platform, WaveSpeedAI’s Seedance 2.5 sits 1.5 times above its own Seedance 2.0 at every resolution ($0.18 against $0.12 at 480p, $0.90 against $0.60 at 1080p), so the same resolution decision costs half again as much to get wrong.

On the official side, ByteDance has still not published a Seedance 2.5 API rate card that we have been able to verify. What exists is a consumer-side promotion: a launch offer of “From $0.097 per second” for new annual Dreamina subscribers, from ByteDance’s press release dated 2026-08-03. That is a subscription promotion, not an API rate, and it is not comparable to the per-second numbers in this article’s main table — different billing object, different commitment, different duration. Our Seedance 2.5 briefing tracks the access and feature side of the 2.5 rollout.

The Reference-Video Multiplier Is Bigger Than Any Channel Discount

If your workflow attaches a reference video — for camera motion, character consistency or a video edit — the per-second table above does not apply to you. Both WaveSpeedAI Seedance tiers switch to a combined-duration model, and the effect is severe.

ModelPer counted second at 1080pFive-second output with a five-second reference
Seedance 2.0$0.375$3.75
Seedance 2.5$0.55$5.50

Two mechanics to internalise. First, the meter runs on your reference footage as well as your output, so a fifteen-second reference clipped onto a five-second generation is billed on twenty seconds. WaveSpeedAI clamps the counted input to a 2–15 second range for Seedance 2.0; trimming a long reference to the minimum useful length is the single most effective cost control available on this route. Second, the per-second rate itself changes when you cross into reference mode — Seedance 2.0 at 1080p moves from $0.60 per output second to $0.375 per counted second, which looks like a discount until you multiply by the doubled second count.

BytePlus applies the same principle on the official API through its token formula, where the reference video’s duration sits inside the token calculation, and it adds a minimum token floor for video-input jobs. The consequence is identical: reference-heavy work is not priced like text-to-video work anywhere, on any channel.

What Is Actually Free Right Now

Free routes exist, but every one of them is sized for evaluation. Here is what the operators themselves publish.

ChannelPublished free allowanceWhat that buysChecked
Dreamina (ByteDance)Free daily credits that “refresh every 24 hours”; 225 free generation tokens per day on Dreamina’s own pagesApproximately 10–20 clips per day across Dreamina’s video models generally, per Dreamina’s FAQ2026-07-31
WaveSpeedAI“$1 in free credits” on signup, no credit card requiredAbout 8 seconds of Seedance 2.0 at 480p, or 1.6 seconds at 1080p, at its published rates2026-08-17
BytePlus ModelArkFree-trial pages exist but rendered no readable terms for usUnquantified2026-07-31
Replicate, fal.aiNo free allowance published on the Seedance model pages we pulledNothing to plan around2026-08-17

The Dreamina row carries an important scope limit that gets lost in most write-ups: the 225-token daily figure appears on Dreamina’s own content pages, it covers Dreamina’s video line as a whole rather than Seedance specifically, and CapCut’s help centre lists no daily free credit type at all. Treat it as a published marketing figure that a platform can resize quietly, not as a specification. The full evidence chain, including what Dreamina does and does not say about which Seedance version the free credits reach, is in Is Seedance 2.0 free?, and what happens when the allowance runs out is covered in Seedance no credits.

For a cheap-but-not-free consumer route, the model designed for the job is Seedance 2.0 Mini — on the official API card it is the least expensive tier in the 2.0 family at $0.036 per second at 480p. If you would rather have one subscription covering several video models instead of a per-second meter, aggregators such as Pollo AI bundle Seedance alongside other generators; we could not read Pollo’s pricing page on 2026-08-17 because it returned HTTP 403 to our request, so check its current tiers yourself before subscribing.

Which Route Is Cheapest for You

The honest answer depends on one question: does the output have to be current-generation Seedance?

If you are drafting, storyboarding or making disposable social filler, run Seedance 1.0 Pro Fast on Replicate at $0.015 per second at 480p. A hundred five-second drafts cost $7.50. Nothing else on this page is in that league.

If you need Seedance 2.x quality and you can write code, BytePlus ModelArk is the cheapest verified route to it, and the Mini and Fast tiers cut the bill further where 1080p is not required. Budget the integration time honestly — our API guide is a realistic scope check.

If you need Seedance 2.x quality and you cannot write code, you are choosing between Dreamina’s subscription and a reseller’s meter. The reseller costs more per second but nothing per month, so the crossover is a volume calculation, not a preference; the credit calculator exists to run it.

If you mainly need long 1080p clips, look hard at Seedance 2.5 Turbo before defaulting to Seedance 2.0. At $0.22 per second it is cheaper than 2.0 on the same reseller and cheaper than 2.0 on the official API.

If you are only evaluating, start on Dreamina’s free daily credits, and use WaveSpeedAI’s $1 signup balance for a second opinion on a different interface. Neither will get you through a project, and both are enough to decide whether Seedance suits your material. Where each of these channels is available by region is mapped in our Seedance access guide.

What We Could Not Price Today

Being explicit about the gaps is part of the method:

  • BytePlus ModelArk’s rate card could not be re-verified on 2026-08-17. The documentation page served no HTML table; its numbers here carry their 2026-07-23 verification date.
  • Dreamina’s pricing page did not render a machine-readable table on 2026-08-17. Its plan prices are not restated in this article; the ones we have verified previously live in the pricing review.
  • Pollo AI’s pricing page returned HTTP 403 to our automated request on 2026-08-17, so no Pollo figures appear above.
  • fal.ai publishes no per-clip anchor below 1080p for its Seedance tiers, only a per-million-token rate, so its 480p and 720p cells are blank rather than derived.
  • No official Seedance 2.5 API rate card has been published that we can verify. The 2.5 figures here are one reseller’s.

The Bottom Line

There is no single cheapest way to use Seedance, because “Seedance” now covers three model generations whose prices differ by more than ten times. Ranked by cost per second of 1080p output as read on the operators’ own pages: Seedance 1.0 Pro Fast on fal.ai at about $0.049, Seedance 1.0 Pro Fast on Replicate at $0.060, Seedance 2.5 Turbo on WaveSpeedAI at $0.220, Seedance 2.0 on BytePlus ModelArk at $0.374, Seedance 2.0 on WaveSpeedAI at $0.600, and Seedance 2.5 on WaveSpeedAI at $0.900.

Pick the version your output genuinely requires, then pick the cheapest channel that carries it, then drop the resolution as far as your delivery format allows — in that order. Doing it the other way around, hunting for a channel discount on a model you did not need, is how a $7 job becomes a $70 one.

SeedanceTips is an independent publication. We are not affiliated with ByteDance, BytePlus, WaveSpeedAI, Replicate or fal.ai, and every price above is quoted from the operator’s own public page on the date shown.
