Is Seedance 2.0 Free? Every Free Route in 2026

Updated Aug 1, 2026 By SeedanceTips Team 13 min read

Is Seedance 2.0 free? Partly — there is one genuinely free route, and it is ByteDance’s own web app. Dreamina states that it gives every member free daily credits that refresh every 24 hours, and Dreamina’s own pages put that allocation at 225 free generation tokens per day (data checked 2026-07-31). Everything else you will meet on page one — the sites called “free Seedance 2.0 generator” — is a third-party interface, not ByteDance, and free access there means whatever that operator decides it means.

The reason this question is confusing is that the two sides of it are usually mixed together. ByteDance publishes some things about free access and pointedly does not publish others. The clone sites publish confident numbers about both. This page separates the routes: who operates each one, what it actually says on the record, and what we could not confirm on 2026-07-31.

Two rows in that table do most of the work. The Dreamina row is the only consumer route where ByteDance itself says something free exists. The last row is where nearly all the search traffic lands.

What Dreamina Actually Publishes About Free Credits

Dreamina is the official consumer home of Seedance, and it is unusually direct about the existence of a free tier and unusually vague about its size. Here is what is on the record, quoted rather than summarised (all data checked 2026-07-31):

  • The homepage FAQ: “Yes. Dreamina provides free daily credits for generating images and videos, so you can start creating right away with no upfront payment.”
  • The refresh cycle, from Dreamina’s Dreamina AI resource page: “Dreamina provides all members with free daily credits that refresh every 24 hours.”
  • The amount, from Dreamina’s AI video maker guide: “providing users with 225 free generation tokens every day”. A second Dreamina page repeats it as “a recurring allocation of 225 free tokens every single day”.
  • What a generation costs, from Dreamina’s Seedance 2.0 Mini pricing page: “It depends on your resolution, clip length, audio setting, and any references you add.”
  • How far the allocation goes, from the FAQ on that same bootstrapping page: “With Dreamina’s daily allocation of 225 free tokens, you can generate approximately 10 to 20 video clips per day, depending on the specific settings, resolution, and AI models you select.” Note the scope — “AI models you select” means this range spans Dreamina’s video models generally, not Seedance 2.0 specifically.
  • What free output looks like: “Free tier exports generated on Dreamina may include a watermark or resolution limits depending on the specific generation model and download settings used.”

One nuance matters if you plan around that 225 figure. It appears on Dreamina’s own content pages, not in the CapCut help centre. The help centre page How Many Types of Credits Are There? lists three credit types only — Subscription Credits, Activity Credits and Purchased Credits — and states the deduction order: “When you use an AI feature that requires credits, CapCut deducts them in this fixed order: 1. Subscription Credits → 2. Activity Credits → 3. Purchased Credits.” No daily-free credit type and no daily number appear there. So 225 is best read as Dreamina’s own published figure for its web app, not as a help-centre specification, and it is the kind of number a platform adjusts quietly.

What we could not confirm

Being specific about the gaps is the point of this page:

  • Whether the daily free credits cover Seedance 2.0 itself. Dreamina states that free daily credits can be used to test Seedance 2.5, and states that Seedance 1.5 Pro “is available on Dreamina with daily free credits”. For Seedance 2.0 we found no page saying either way. Unconfirmed, not denied.
  • How many free Seedance clips 225 tokens buys. Dreamina answers this only for its video line as a whole — the approximately 10 to 20 clips per day quoted above, which its own wording ties to “the AI models you select”. It publishes no per-clip credit table and no Seedance-specific count, so a precise number for Seedance 2.0 does not exist on the record and we are not going to invent one. Our pricing review carries the credit-cost estimates and the paid-plan math for this site; that page is the reference for anything involving money, and nothing on this page overrides it.
  • Whether unused daily credits roll over. Not stated on the pages we reached.

Which Seedance version the free route reaches

This is where the free question gets version-sensitive, and it explains why answers online contradict each other:

VersionStatus on Dreamina (checked 2026-07-31)
Seedance 1.5 ProListed as available with daily free credits; also labelled “Video 3.5 Pro, also known as Seedance 1.5 Pro”
Seedance 2.0Live; free-credit eligibility not stated
Seedance 2.0 MiniLive — homepage banner: “Seedance 2.0 Mini is live!” / “Lower costs. Faster output. Made for every style!”
Seedance 2.5“New model LIVE: Dreamina Seedance 2.5 is now available” (checked 2026-08-01; read “Seedance 2.5 is coming soon!” through 2026-07-31)

If your goal is simply to see what Seedance output looks like without paying, the cheapest-by-design tier is the one to aim at, and we break down where it sits in the family in our Seedance 2.0 Mini guide. If your goal is a specific 2.5 feature, Dreamina says the model went live on 2026-07-31, though we have not verified how far the free daily credits stretch on it — see our Seedance 2.5 briefing for what is and is not open.

The Developer Route Is Not a Free Route

A recurring suggestion in AI answers is to “just use the API for free”. On 2026-07-31 we could not verify that.

BytePlus ModelArk bills Seedance usage, and its documentation set does contain free-trial pages — an inference free-trial page, a new-user offer page and a “Free Tokens Only” mode page all exist by title in the ModelArk docs index. The problem is that these pages render their content dynamically: each one returned no readable content to us, as did the BytePlus free-tier activity page. We are therefore not in a position to state any free video-generation quota, in either direction: we cannot confirm one exists for Seedance video models, and we cannot state that none does.

What is established is the billing model. Seedance video generation on ModelArk is usage-billed, with cost driven by resolution, duration and model choice, and our Seedance API guide covers the model IDs and the token math. Practically: the API is the route you pick when volume makes per-generation pricing cheaper than a subscription, not the route you pick to avoid paying.

The China-Side Routes

Three ByteDance surfaces sit outside the Dreamina web app, and none of them publishes a free quota you can read without an account:

  • Jimeng (jimeng.jianying.com) is the China-facing sibling of Dreamina. The landing page is a Simplified Chinese marketing page; generation sits behind a login, and no free-credit, points or membership figures appear on the public page (checked 2026-07-31).
  • Doubao, ByteDance’s assistant app, returned nothing beyond its page title to us on 2026-07-31, so we cannot describe its Seedance access or any free allowance. Treat any specific Doubao free-quota number you read elsewhere as unverified.
  • The Xiao Yunque (Little Skylark) app is the one China-side free path this site has documented, in the free-path section of our Seedance pricing review. Those terms are dated February 2026 and were promotional when recorded, which is exactly the kind of offer that expires quietly — verify in-app before planning around it.

“Free Seedance Generator” Sites: What They Actually Are

Search seedance 2.0 free and the first screen is dominated by sites whose names suggest they are the product. They are not. Here is the nature of each one we checked on 2026-07-31, with no claims about their internal pricing:

SiteWhat it actually isByteDance affiliation stated?Notable on 2026-07-31

seedance2.aiIndependent Seedance-branded interface, now served from a renamed domainNo301-redirects to seevio.ai, whose own notice reads “Seedance2.ai has officially moved to Seevio.ai”; that page’s title and H1 are still “Seedance 2.0”

imastudio.comE-commerce marketing asset platformNo — lists “ByteDance Seed” as a model providerMarkets “Unlimited Seedance 2.5”

Three things are worth pulling out of that table, because they are checkable and the sites themselves will not tell you:

1. Nobody in that list claims to be ByteDance — and nobody says they are not, either. None of the pages we read carried an affiliation statement in either direction. The absence is the tell: an independent operator has no reason to write one, while the model’s owner has no need to.

2. Access to Seedance runs through an API, and one of the clones says so out loud. seedance2.so’s own blog states that Seedance 2.0 “has no public weights and is API-only”. That single sentence is the structural answer to the whole category: since there are no downloadable weights, every non-ByteDance interface is paying an API bill somewhere, and whatever it calls “free” is a customer-acquisition budget rather than a ByteDance free tier. The same blog is blunt about the most popular long-tail query in this cluster: “There is no Seedance 2.0 free with no sign up that works.”

3. These domains churn. Two of the six domains we checked no longer answer at the address you typed: seedance2.ai now 301-redirects to seevio.ai, and seedance2.app now 301-redirects to videopulse.org. Both redirects were live on 2026-07-31 — but the two destinations are different cases, and the difference matters. seevio.ai is the same operation under a new domain: its own migration notice reads “Seedance2.ai has officially moved to Seevio.ai”, and its page title and H1 are still “Seedance 2.0”, so Seedance remains the headline product there. videopulse.org is a genuinely different brand, VideoPulse, where Seedance is one capability among several. Either way, an operator that changes the domain your account lives on inside a few weeks is not a stable place to keep a credit balance.

One contrast is worth holding side by side. ByteDance’s own consumer app still said “Seedance 2.5 is coming soon!” on 2026-07-31, while a third-party platform was marketing “Unlimited Seedance 2.5” on the same date. The model did then launch — ByteDance’s Dreamina page switched to “New model LIVE” by our 2026-08-01 check — so the reseller turned out to be early rather than simply wrong. That does not make the marketing reliable: it was selling unlimited access to something the model owner had not yet opened, and we are not going to characterise how that was delivered, because we do not know and neither does any page that tells you. The rule still holds — when a reseller’s availability claim runs ahead of the model owner’s own page, discount the reseller until the owner’s page catches up.

For a broader map of which platforms carry Seedance and which of them are official, the access side of our complete Seedance 2.0 guide is the place to start.

What “Free” Does Not Get You

Even on the official free route, three limits shape what the output is good for:

  1. Watermarks and resolution limits. Dreamina states that free-tier exports “may include a watermark or resolution limits depending on the specific generation model and download settings used” (checked 2026-07-31). The conditional wording is theirs, and it means the answer depends on the model and download path you use rather than being fixed.
  2. Commercial rights. Commercial licensing sits with paid plans on Dreamina; the plan-by-plan detail is in our pricing review and we deliberately do not restate the plan tiers here, so there is exactly one page on this site carrying that math.
  3. Throughput. A daily allocation that resets every 24 hours is a testing budget, not a production budget. Anything with a deadline attached will hit the reset wall.

The sensible way to use a free daily allocation is as a prompt-testing loop: draft at the shortest duration and lowest resolution that lets you judge composition and motion, keep video references out of drafts, and only spend on a paid route once the prompt is settled. The full step-by-step workflow lives in the complete Seedance 2.0 guide; the credit-saving specifics live in the pricing review.

The Bottom Line: Is Seedance 2.0 Free?

There is a free daily allocation on ByteDance’s own web app, and there is no free unlimited Seedance anywhere. Dreamina publishes the existence of free daily credits, publishes a 225-token daily figure on its own pages, and estimates that at roughly 10 to 20 clips per day across its video models — but it does not publish what a Seedance clip costs, which is why any exact “X free Seedance videos per day” number you have read is somebody’s estimate. The API route is usage-billed and its free-trial documentation would not render for us. The sites that put “free” and “Seedance” in their domain names are independent operators reselling API access, two of which have already redirected to entirely different brands.

If you want to try Seedance without paying, log into Dreamina and spend the daily credits. If you want to know what it costs once you are past that, the numbers are one page away.
