Seedance No Credits: Why You Ran Out & When They Refresh
If Seedance is telling you that you have no credits, the first thing to establish is which company’s credits you ran out of — because the refresh rule, the reset clock and the refill options are different on every channel, and only some of them are published at all. ByteDance’s own web app, Dreamina, says free daily credits “refresh every 24 hours” and never says at what hour. The reseller sites that come up alongside it are not even running a daily cycle: seedance.tv’s published free grant is a one-time 10 credits at registration and its paid credits refresh on your billing date, not overnight.
That mismatch is why the answers you get about Seedance credits contradict each other, sometimes inside a single paragraph. This page lays the channels side by side: what each operator publishes about the free allowance, the refresh cycle, rollover, and how you get more. Everything below was read on the operator’s own page on 2026-08-10, and where an operator publishes nothing, that is written down as nothing rather than filled in.
Seedance “No Credits”: What That Message Means on Each Channel
Seedance has no consumer product of its own. It is a ByteDance model reached through interfaces — ByteDance’s, BytePlus’s, and a long tail of independent sites — and each interface invents its own accounting. So “no credits” is not one condition:
- On Dreamina, it means the day’s free allowance is spent, or your plan’s monthly allocation is spent. The allowance is Dreamina-wide, shared with image generation, not a Seedance-only pot.
- On a reseller site, it means that operator’s balance is empty. Those balances are customer-acquisition budgets, not a ByteDance entitlement, and the operator can resize them whenever it likes.
- On the API route, it usually means something else entirely. BytePlus ModelArk, fal and Replicate bill for what you run rather than handing you a pot to spend down, so an error there is more often about a payment method, a spending cap or a rate limit than about an exhausted allowance.
The practical consequence: before you go looking for a fix, check which of those three you are in. A guide written for a reseller’s credit system will not help a Dreamina account, and neither will help an API key. If you are not sure which channel you are on, our Seedance access guide maps who operates each one.
Credit Refresh by Channel: What Each Operator Publishes
This is the table the question actually needs. Each row records what that specific operator publishes on its own pages — not what other sites say about it. Blank claims are stated as unpublished rather than estimated.
| Channel | Operator | Free allowance published | Refresh cycle & clock | Rolls over? | Published way to get more | Checked |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Dreamina (web/app) | ByteDance (CapCut) | “225 free generation tokens every day” on its own pages; account-wide, not Seedance-specific | “free daily credits that refresh every 24 hours” — no reset hour or timezone published | Not published either way | Paid plans; no top-up pack price found on pages that rendered to us | 2026-08-10 |
| BytePlus ModelArk (API) | BytePlus (ByteDance) | None published on pages that rendered to us | Not applicable — usage-billed, not an allowance | Not applicable | Usage billing; see our API guide for the token math | 2026-08-10 |
| fal (API) | fal (independent) | None | Not applicable — per-generation pricing | Not applicable | “Each 1080p 5 second video costs roughly $0.62. For other resolutions, 1 million video tokens costs $2.5.” | 2026-08-10 |
| Replicate (API) | Replicate (independent) | Not published on its pricing page | Not applicable | Not applicable | “Most models are billed by the time they take to run. The price-per-second varies according to the hardware in use.” | 2026-08-10 |
| seedance.tv | ASTROINSPIRE LTD (London) — states it “is an independent product and is not affiliated with Bytedance” | No daily allowance published; one-time only: “New users receive 10 free credits upon registration”, enough “to create 1 video” | No daily cycle published at all; paid “credits refresh at each billing cycle” (monthly) | “Monthly credits do not roll over to the next month” | Paid plans, published as starting at “$28/mo (billed yearly) or $39/mo (billed monthly)” | 2026-08-10 |
| seedance2pro.io | Not disclosed on the site (built on the MkSaaS template) — states it is “not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by ByteDance Seed or Seedance” | “5 free generations included” at sign-up, “No credit card required” — a generation count, not a credit figure | None published for the free tier; paid tiers say only “Credits refresh monthly” | Not published for the free tier; one-time credit packs are labelled “Credits never expire” | Paid plans from $19.80/month for “260 credits/month” | 2026-08-10 |
| Jimeng / Doubao / Xiao Yunque (China) | ByteDance | Nothing published publicly that we could read; third-party write-ups quote 10 generations to 120 credits a day | Not published on ByteDance’s own public pages | Not published | Behind a China-side account | 2026-08-10 |
Read down the “refresh cycle” column and the shape of the problem is obvious. Exactly one operator publishes a daily free allowance, and not one of the seven publishes a reset hour.
Why the Free-Credit Numbers You Have Been Given Don’t Reconcile
Search for how many free Seedance credits you get and you will collect several numbers — 225 a day, 60 to 120 a day, some quantity of “starter credits”, a handful of free generations. They do not average out, because they are not measurements of the same thing. Two describe a recurring daily allowance and two describe a grant you receive exactly once, and between them they are denominated in three incompatible units.
225 a day is Dreamina’s, and it is not credits. Its AI video maker page states, in several near-identical sentences, “Users receive 225 free generation tokens every day” and describes a “Free-to-Start” access model (data checked 2026-08-10). Dreamina’s resource page adds the cycle without a clock: “Dreamina provides all members with free daily credits that refresh every 24 hours.” Its homepage FAQ repeats the existence of the allowance — “Dreamina provides free daily credits for generating images and videos, so you can start creating right away with no upfront payment” — and stops there. This is the only genuine per-day free allowance on the table above, and it is spread across every Dreamina model, not reserved for Seedance.
The reseller numbers are one-time, not daily. seedance.tv publishes a single free grant — “New users receive 10 free credits upon registration to test our video generation capabilities. This allows you to create 1 video” — and nothing else free. Its footer identifies the operator as ASTROINSPIRE LTD in London and the site states outright that it “is an independent product and is not affiliated with Bytedance”. seedance2pro.io advertises “5 free generations included” with “No credit card required”, counted in generations rather than credits, also once. Neither site publishes a daily refill of any size, which means the mental model most people bring to a “no credits” message — wait until tomorrow — is simply wrong on both of them.
A third figure circulates with no operator behind it. Third-party pricing write-ups put Dreamina’s free tier at roughly 60 to 120 credits a day and describe it as a non-cumulative allowance. That is somebody’s observation of an account, not a ByteDance publication, and it is unreconciled with the 225 on Dreamina’s own pages — quite possibly because “credits” and “generation tokens” are not the same unit, which no page we read defines against the other.
Put together, an answer that blends these into “your Seedance credits refresh daily at X” describes no account in existence. The correct reading is narrower and more useful — your allowance, your cycle and your reset time are all properties of the interface you logged into, and where that interface has published nothing, nobody outside it knows.
When Do Seedance Credits Refresh?
Three honest answers, one per channel type.
Dreamina: every 24 hours, hour unpublished. The wording is a rolling cycle rather than a wall-clock reset, and ByteDance has not published which it is. Two accounts created at different times may therefore refill at different moments, and there is no page to check. The only reliable method is to note when your own balance returns and treat that as your personal reset — an observation about your account, not a rule you can hand to someone else.
Resellers: never, on the free tier — because there is nothing there to refresh. Neither seedance.tv nor seedance2pro.io publishes a daily free allowance. On both, the free credits are a one-time registration grant; once spent, waiting achieves nothing and the only published route forward is a paid plan. The refresh that those sites do publish is a subscriber’s — seedance.tv says monthly plans are “billed every month with credits refreshing at each billing cycle”, and seedance2pro.io lists “Credits refresh monthly” as a paid-plan feature. That is your billing date, not a shared overnight reset, and it is a product decision changeable in a deploy, on services that — as we documented while checking the free routes — sometimes change domain entirely.
API routes: there is no refresh, because there is no allowance. ModelArk, fal and Replicate charge per generation. Nothing refills overnight because nothing was allotted. If an API call fails for a billing reason, the fix is on the billing side, not the calendar.
The distinction hiding inside Dreamina’s wording is worth pulling out, because it changes what you should do. A wall-clock reset means every account on the service refills at the same instant, and a published timezone is enough to plan around. A rolling 24-hour window means your refill is anchored to something about your own account — most often the last grant — so it drifts relative to everyone else’s. “Refresh every 24 hours” is compatible with both, and ByteDance has not said which. Until it does, the only measurement that means anything is your own: note the clock time your balance comes back on two consecutive days. If it lands at the same minute both times you are on a rolling window anchored to your account; if it lands at the same wall-clock hour regardless, you have found the service’s reset.
One caution for all three: none of the ByteDance pages we could read publishes a per-clip credit cost, so even a known reset time will not tell you how many Seedance clips your next refill buys.
Do Seedance Credits Roll Over?
Where a rule is published at all, it is no — but read carefully, because the published rules are about paid monthly allowances, not free ones.
seedance.tv is explicit, and only about subscribers: “Monthly credits do not roll over to the next month. We recommend using your credits within your billing cycle. For yearly plans, credits are granted monthly throughout the year and do not roll over.” Nothing on its pages says what becomes of an unspent free registration credit, because there is no cycle for it to survive into. seedance2pro.io publishes no rollover rule for its free generations either; the only durability statement we found there points the other way, marking its one-time paid credit packs “Credits never expire”. Third-party descriptions of Dreamina’s free tier call it non-cumulative, but no ByteDance page says so.
Dreamina itself publishes no rollover rule in either direction on any page we could read on 2026-08-10. Absence of a statement is not a promise, and for planning purposes the safe assumption is the conservative one: a daily allowance is a testing budget that resets, not a balance that accrues. If you were counting on banking a week of unused credits to fund one big render, nothing on the record supports that plan.
There is one documented counter-example, and it is worth knowing about precisely because it breaks the pattern. A third-party guide describing ByteDance’s China-side apps lists the Xiao Yunque (Little Skylark) app as the one surface whose daily credits accumulate rather than reset, alongside Doubao and Jimeng which it marks as resetting daily. That is a third-party characterisation of an app whose own public pages publish nothing readable on the point, and it concerns a China-domestic account most readers of this page cannot open — so it is a footnote rather than a strategy. It does, however, show that “credits never roll over” is a per-product decision rather than a ByteDance-wide policy, which is another reason not to carry one channel’s rule to another.
The one class of credits that does persist, on the sites that offer them, is the sign-up grant. Those sit outside any cycle, which cuts both ways: nothing expires them, and nothing replaces them either. On both resellers we checked, that grant is the entire free tier — which is precisely why it runs out once and never comes back.
Every Way to Get More Seedance Credits
Ranked by what each route actually costs you, cheapest first.
- Wait for the refresh. Free, and on Dreamina it is the only free route ByteDance itself publishes. Costs a day.
- Claim the one-time sign-up grant on a reseller. seedance.tv publishes “New users receive 10 free credits upon registration”, and puts the yield plainly: “This allows you to create 1 video.” seedance2pro.io advertises “5 free generations included” with “No credit card required”. These are real, and they are smaller than the internet suggests: one grant, one account, one or a few clips, and then nothing refills. Neither site publishes a free daily pool to fall back on.
- Promotional grants. Several operators run event-based giveaways. By definition these are unschedulable, and none of them is a plan.
- A paid plan on the channel you are already on. The published refill path on consumer channels. We deliberately do not restate plan tiers or per-clip cost math here — that lives in one place on this site, the Seedance pricing review, so there is a single page to keep correct.
- Buy top-up credits. Widely described in third-party write-ups; we could not read a published Dreamina top-up price on any page that rendered for us on 2026-08-10. Resellers do publish theirs — seedance2pro.io lists one-time credit packs alongside its subscriptions and marks them “Credits never expire” — but a rate on a reseller’s page tells you nothing about ByteDance’s. If someone quotes you a per-100-credit Dreamina rate, that number is unverified until it appears on Dreamina’s own page.
- Move to the API. At volume this stops being a credit problem. fal publishes “Each 1080p 5 second video costs roughly $0.62” for Seedance Pro text-to-video, and Replicate bills by run time. There is no allowance to exhaust — which also means no free tier to fall back on. The model IDs and token arithmetic are in our Seedance API guide.
What is not on this list: nothing on the record supports the “unlimited Seedance” claims that reseller marketing runs. Seedance has no public weights, so every non-ByteDance interface is paying an API bill for each generation; “unlimited” is a pricing decision that someone is funding, not a property of the model.
Why You Ran Out Faster Than You Expected
Three mechanics do most of the damage, and none of them is documented in a way you can budget against.
Cost per clip is variable. Dreamina’s Seedance 2.0 Mini pricing page attributes the cost of a generation to your resolution, clip length, audio setting and any references you add (data checked 2026-08-10). It publishes no table. The practical range is wide enough that the same allowance might fund eight short silent drafts or one long clip with audio and a video reference attached.
The allowance is shared, not Seedance-specific. Dreamina’s 225 daily tokens cover image and video generation across its models. Nothing reserves any part of that for Seedance, so an afternoon of image generation is spent from the same pot as your video drafts. This is also why “how many free Seedance videos per day” has no published answer: the numerator is account-wide and the denominator is unpublished.
The units are not comparable across channels. Dreamina’s own pages count in “generation tokens”. Reseller sites count in “credits”. Third-party descriptions of ByteDance’s China apps count in credits for Jimeng and Xiao Yunque but in whole generations for Doubao. One reseller skips the unit question entirely and counts its free tier in finished videos — “5 free generations”. No page we read defines any of these against another, and no exchange rate exists between them. That is what makes cross-channel comparison of free tiers largely meaningless: 225 tokens a day is not obviously more or less generous than 10 credits once or 5 generations once, and a site quoting you a per-day clip count has silently supplied an exchange rate that its own operator never published.
Failed and abandoned generations still cost. A render you dislike consumed the same allowance as one you keep. On a daily budget measured in single-digit clips, two rejected drafts can be the whole day. This is the strongest argument for settling a prompt at the cheapest settings before spending on the version you intend to use — the complete Seedance guide covers that workflow, and the lowest-cost tier is where drafting is cheapest.
What to Do Right Now If You Have No Credits
A short triage, in the order that costs you least.
- Identify the channel. Look at the domain in your address bar. If it is not dreamina.capcut.com, you are on a third-party service and its rules — not ByteDance’s — govern your balance.
- Check whether that channel has a daily allowance at all. Dreamina publishes one. Neither reseller we checked does — their free credits are a one-time sign-up grant, so waiting will not bring them back. Confirm this on the operator’s own pricing page before you spend a day waiting for nothing.
- If the reset time is unpublished, measure it once. Note the clock time your balance returns. That is your account’s cycle, and it is worth more than any number you will read on a blog.
- Drop your settings before you spend the next refill. Lowest resolution, shortest duration, audio off, no video references. Settle composition and motion first; spend on quality only once the prompt is final.
- Only then decide between a plan and the API. If your need is occasional, a plan on the channel you already use is simpler. If you are generating in volume or on a schedule, per-use API billing removes the allowance problem entirely — at the cost of removing the free tier too.
What not to do: do not chase a “no credit counter” workaround. The routes that actually exist are the ones above, and the sites promising otherwise are reselling API access on a budget they control.
The Bottom Line
“No credits” on Seedance is a per-channel condition, and the single most common mistake is applying one channel’s rule to another. Dreamina publishes a 225-token daily allowance and a 24-hour refresh with no clock and no rollover statement. seedance.tv — a London company that states it is not affiliated with ByteDance — publishes no daily free allowance at all: 10 credits once at registration, worth one video by its own account, after which the published route is a subscription that refreshes on your billing date. seedance2pro.io gives 5 free generations once, on the same never-refreshes basis. The API routes publish no allowance either, because they bill per use. Any answer that blends those into one daily number with a reset time is describing a system that does not exist.
If you are out today: wait for your own reset, note when it lands, and spend the next allowance on cheap drafts before expensive renders. If waiting is not an option, the paid side is one page away.
