Seedance Tiers Explained: Pro vs Fast vs Lite vs Mini (2026)

By SeedanceTips Team 15 min read

Seedance has seven video models on ByteDance’s international API today, and “Pro”, “Fast”, “Lite” and “Mini” do not split them the way most comparisons assume. On the BytePlus ModelArk model list checked 2026-09-15, “Pro” is a suffix of the older Seedance 1.0 and 1.5 generation, “Fast” and “Mini” are the two cheaper members of the Seedance 2.0 family (both 720p maximum), and no Seedance video model named “Lite” is listed at all. Seedance 2.5 sits at the top, with a published model ID, a 30-second ceiling and 1080p output.

This page compares the tiers using only ByteDance’s own published documentation: the BytePlus ModelArk model list, the BytePlus ModelArk pricing page, and the consumer Dreamina Seedance 2.5 page. Every table cell below was read from the rendered pages on 2026-09-15. Nothing here is a generation test, and the section near the end lists what the documents leave out.

Model IDs, resolutions, durations and capabilities come from the BytePlus model list; the price column comes from the per-video examples on the BytePlus pricing page, both checked 2026-09-15. Every tier outputs at 24 fps. Prices are BytePlus list prices for a 5-second clip with no video input, before the limited-time discounts covered below, and they exclude any charge for video you upload as input.

Two format details sit in the same table. Seedance 2.5 is the only tier that lists .mov output next to .mp4, and bit depth varies: the model list gives Seedance 2.5 1080p as 10-bit, Seedance 2.0 1080p as 8-bit, and Seedance 2.0 4K as 10-bit.

“Pro”, “Fast”, “Lite” and “Mini”: which names are Seedance tiers

The most common mistake is treating “Seedance Pro” as the premium tier of the current generation. On the BytePlus model list checked 2026-09-15, “Pro” appears only on Seedance 1.0 Pro, Seedance 1.0 Pro Fast and Seedance 1.5 Pro. No Seedance 2.0 or 2.5 video model carries it. A search for “Seedance 2.0 Fast vs Pro” is really a comparison of Seedance 2.0 Fast against the plain Seedance 2.0 model, whose ID has no suffix.

The confusion has a traceable source on the same documentation page. BytePlus lists a family of Seed 2.0 language models called seed-2-0-pro-260328, seed-2-0-lite-260428 and seed-2-0-mini-260428, credited with deep reasoning, text generation and tool use, and priced per million text tokens. They share the Pro, Lite and Mini names with no connection to video generation. The image side adds seedream-5-0-lite-260128, an image model. So “Lite” is a real word in ByteDance’s lineup, just not on a Seedance video model.

Name you seeWhat it refers to on BytePlus (checked 2026-09-15)
Seedance 2.0 ProNo such video model ID; the video model is plain Seedance 2.0
Seedance ProThe 1.x video generation: 1.0 Pro, 1.0 Pro Fast, 1.5 Pro
Seedance LiteNo Seedance video model with this name is listed
Seed 2.0 Lite / Mini / ProLanguage models, not video
Seedream 5.0 LiteImage generation model, not video
Seedance 2.0 Fast / MiniThe two lower-cost Seedance 2.0 video tiers

Seedance 1.0 Lite gets a separate history in our Seedance version timeline, which traces when each version appeared on which official surface.

Resellers add a third layer of names. If you see “Seedance 2.0 Enhanced Fast”, note that no model ID of that name is on the BytePlus model list, and the word “Enhanced” did not appear on Higgsfield’s pricing page as rendered on 2026-09-15. Channel-by-channel credit costs are covered in our Seedance 2.0 on Higgsfield breakdown.

What each Seedance tier costs on ByteDance’s API

BytePlus bills Seedance per token, and the pricing page states the estimate as a formula: token consumption equals (input video duration + output video duration) × output width × output height × frame rate ÷ 1024, and price equals token unit price × token consumption. The unit price alone therefore never tells you what a clip costs. Both halves follow.

Token unit prices, USD per million tokens, checked 2026-09-15 (list prices; discounts in the next section):

Source for both tables: the BytePlus ModelArk pricing page, read 2026-09-15. The page says these are estimates, with actual token use taken from the usage figure returned by the API, and states: “You are only charged for successfully generated videos. No fee is charged if generation fails due to reasons such as content moderation.”

Three structural points follow from those tables:

  • Seedance 2.0’s 4K rate is its lowest no-video-input rate, yet a 4K clip is the most expensive. $4.0 per million tokens against $7.7 at 1080p, but $3.89 per 5-second clip against $1.87, because the token count grows with the pixel count.
  • Video input lowers the unit rate and raises the bill. Input seconds are added to the token formula. For a 5-second output with 2 to 15 seconds of input video, BytePlus lists Seedance 2.0 Mini at $0.41–0.91 for 720p and Seedance 2.0 at $2.06–4.57 for 1080p; Seedance 2.5 at 720p runs $1.244–4.838 with 2 to 30 seconds of input.
  • Offline (batch) inference exists only on the 1.x tiers, at half the online rate. Every 2.0 and 2.5 model is marked “Not supported yet”. The lowest token rate anywhere in the lineup is Seedance 1.0 Pro Fast offline, at $0.5 per million tokens.

Seedance 1.5 Pro has two extra switches. It is the only tier that prices audio separately, at double the silent rate, and the only one with a draft mode: the pricing page gives token conversion factors of 0.7 for silent video and 0.6 for audio video, and says other models do not support the mode for now. The 1.5 Pro example table prices draft output only at 480p ($0.04 silent, $0.07 with audio) and marks 720p and 1080p draft as “Not supported”.

Limited-time discounts live on 2026-09-15

The pricing page carries a limited-time discount notice above its tables. The per-video example tables above are list prices, so a budget built from them overstates current cost for three tiers. As read on 2026-09-15:

TierDiscount, per BytePlusWindow (UTC+8)BytePlus’s stated floor
Seedance 2.0 Mini60% off list, 480p and 720p14:00 Aug 7 – 14:00 Oct 7, 2026about $0.03 per second at 720p
Seedance 2.0 Fast25% off list, 480p and 720p14:00 Aug 7 – 14:00 Oct 7, 2026about $0.09 per second at 720p
Seedance 2.528% off list for 1080p only; 480p and 720p not eligible14:00 Aug 14 – 14:00 Sep 17, 2026about $0.41 per second at 1080p

The unit-price table marks the same three rows “Time limited” next to the original rate, so the two parts of the page agree. Applying the stated percentages to the list examples (our arithmetic, not a BytePlus figure) gives roughly $0.15 for a 5-second 720p clip on Mini, $0.45 on Fast, and $2.05 for a 5-second 1080p clip on Seedance 2.5 while the windows are open.

The windows change the ranking. At list price, Fast saves about 20% against Seedance 2.0 at 720p; with the discount it saves about 40%. The Seedance 2.5 1080p discount ends two days after this check date, and the Mini and Fast discounts end on October 7, 2026. A cost model meant to outlive those dates should use list prices and treat the discount as temporary.

Seedance 2.5: the API spec sheet and the Dreamina page describe different ceilings

Seedance 2.5 is on both official surfaces, but they describe different limits:

ClaimBytePlus ModelArk model list and pricing (API), 2026-09-15Dreamina Seedance 2.5 page (consumer), 2026-09-15
Resolution480p, 720p, 1080p“Create cinematic 4K videos with Seedance 2.5 in Dreamina.”
Duration4–30 s30 seconds in standard mode, or “extend them to 180 seconds with the beta long-video mode”
Referencesmultimodal reference-to-video, reference-to-video, video editing, video extension“multimodal inputs of up to 50 references”
Output format.mp4, .movnot stated in the page text
Priceper-token rate card and per-video examples“flexible plans” plus limited-time free Seedance 2.5 generations

If you need 4K or a clip longer than 30 seconds from Seedance 2.5, the Dreamina app is the only official surface that describes either. If you need a model ID, a rate limit and a per-clip price, the API has all three, with 1080p as its ceiling. No official page read on 2026-09-15 explains how the two relate.

The Dreamina page also lists what upgrading adds: “more monthly credits, watermark-free downloads, higher-resolution output, smoother videos up to 60 FPS, and lip-sync audio generation”. The API model list gives every Seedance tier a frame rate of 24 fps, so 60 fps is another consumer-side claim with no API equivalent. For subscription-side credit math, use our Seedance pricing review and the credit calculator.

Capability and rate-limit differences that are not about price

Resolution and price get the attention, but the BytePlus model list splits the generations more sharply on what each tier accepts as input. As listed on 2026-09-15:

Capability2.52.02.0 Fast2.0 Mini1.5 Pro1.0 Pro1.0 Pro Fast

Image-to-video, first frameYesYesYesYesYesYesYes
Image-to-video, first and last framesYesYesYesYesYesYesNo
Reference-to-video (incl. multimodal)YesYesYesYesNoNoNo
Video editingYesYesYesYesNoNoNo
Video extensionYesYesYesYesNoNoNo

Mini has the same capability list as the full Seedance 2.0 model; on paper it gives up resolution and duration, not input types. Seedance 1.0 Pro Fast is the only tier without first-and-last-frame image-to-video, which matters for any shot that has to end on a specific image.

Rate limits also differ by tier and account type. For Seedance 2.5, 2.0, 2.0 Fast and 2.0 Mini, the model list gives enterprise users 600 requests per minute with concurrency 10 and individual users 180 requests per minute with concurrency 3. Seedance 2.0 at 4K is capped at 15 requests per minute and concurrency 1 for enterprise and individual users alike, so a 4K batch runs one job at a time regardless of account. The 1.x tiers list 600 requests per minute and concurrency 10 online, plus an offline allowance of 500B tokens per day. Request-level details are in our Seedance API guide.

Which tier the official specs point to, by job

These picks follow from the published specs and prices above, not from comparing output quality:

  • Drafting and prompt iteration at volume: Seedance 2.0 Mini. It has the full 2.0 input list at $0.18 per 5-second 480p clip at list price, with 60% off through October 7, 2026. More in our Seedance 2.0 Mini guide.
  • 720p social deliverables: Seedance 2.0 Fast, if 720p is your ceiling anyway. If the same pipeline will ever need 1080p, use Seedance 2.0, because Fast has no 1080p option.
  • 1080p or 4K finals on the 2.0 generation: Seedance 2.0, the only tier with 4K on any API page.
  • Single generations longer than 15 seconds: Seedance 2.5, the only API tier with a 30-second maximum.
  • Large batches with no latency requirement: a 1.x tier on offline inference, at half the online rate. Seedance 1.0 Pro Fast offline is the lowest listed rate; Seedance 1.5 Pro offline is the option with audio.
  • Cheapest 1080p clip: Seedance 1.0 Pro Fast at $0.24 for 5 seconds at list price, about one-eighth of Seedance 2.0’s $1.87, with text-to-video and first-frame image-to-video only.

Where each tier is available

Three official or published channels can be checked, and they expose different parts of the lineup:

  • BytePlus ModelArk: the international API. All seven Seedance video model IDs above, with rate limits and a published rate card, as of 2026-09-15. It is the only channel read for this page where every tier is both listed and priced.
  • Dreamina: ByteDance’s consumer app at dreamina.capcut.com. On 2026-09-15 the site’s Models menu listed Dreamina Seedance 2.5, Dreamina Seedance 2.0 and Dreamina Seedance 2.0 Mini alongside Sora 2 and Veo 3.1; Seedance 2.0 Fast and the 1.x tiers were not in that menu. That is site navigation, not the in-app model picker, so it shows what is promoted rather than everything offered.
  • Higgsfield: a third-party reseller. Its pricing page on 2026-09-15 named Seedance 2.5 and Seedance 2.0 among plan inclusions. Its credit costs are a third-party channel price; see the Higgsfield breakdown.

What the official documentation does not tell you

The official pages are specific about specs and prices, and silent on the questions tier comparisons usually try to answer. None of the pages read on 2026-09-15 publishes:

  • A quality comparison between tiers. No page says how much visual quality Fast or Mini gives up against Seedance 2.0 at the same resolution.
  • Generation time per tier. The model list gives requests per minute and concurrency, not how long a clip takes.
  • Why Fast and Mini cost less. The pages state the price and resolution gap, not the model differences behind it.
  • How the Dreamina 4K and 180-second modes map to the API model.
  • Any retirement date for the 1.x tiers.

Treat any page that states these as fact as reporting its own observations, not ByteDance’s documentation.

How to re-check every number on this page

Two BytePlus pages hold every API figure above: the model list for model IDs, resolutions, durations, capabilities and rate limits, and the pricing page for unit prices, per-video examples and the discount notice. Read the discount notice first; it sits above the tables and the example prices are not restated at the discounted rate. For consumer-side claims, the Dreamina Seedance 2.5 page is the one to watch.

FAQ

What is the difference between Seedance Pro, Fast, Lite and Mini?

Only some of those words name Seedance video tiers. “Pro” is the suffix on the older generation: Seedance 1.0 Pro, 1.0 Pro Fast and 1.5 Pro. “Fast” and “Mini” are the cheaper Seedance 2.0 tiers, both limited to 480p and 720p. No Seedance video model named “Lite” is on the BytePlus model list or pricing page as of 2026-09-15; Seed 2.0 Lite, Mini and Pro on the same page are language models.

Is Seedance 2.0 Fast worth it over the standard Seedance 2.0 model?

At BytePlus list prices checked 2026-09-15, a 5-second 16:9 clip costs $0.28 at 480p and $0.60 at 720p on Fast, against $0.35 and $0.76 on Seedance 2.0, about 20% less. Fast is also 25% off list through October 7, 2026. Fast has no 1080p or 4K option, so those jobs must run on Seedance 2.0.

Which Seedance tier is cheapest?

Seedance 1.0 Pro Fast: $0.05 for a 5-second 480p clip and $0.24 at 1080p at list price, with offline inference at $0.50 per million tokens, checked 2026-09-15. In the 2.0 family, Seedance 2.0 Mini is cheapest at $0.18 and $0.38 for 480p and 720p, billed at 60% off through October 7, 2026. The 1.0 tiers have no reference-to-video, editing or extension.

Does Seedance 2.5 have an API?

Yes. On 2026-09-15 the BytePlus model list carries dreamina-seedance-2-5-260628 with 480p, 720p and 1080p output, 4 to 30 seconds, and .mp4 or .mov files, and the pricing page publishes its rates. The Dreamina consumer page describes 4K and a 180-second beta mode; neither appears on the API pages.

What happened to Seedance Lite?

No Seedance 1.0 Lite video model is on the BytePlus model list or pricing page as of 2026-09-15. Seed 2.0 Lite and Seedream 5.0 Lite are listed, but they are a language model and an image model. For low-cost Seedance video, the official options are Seedance 2.0 Mini and Seedance 1.0 Pro Fast.

Which Seedance tiers can do video editing and video extension?

Seedance 2.5, Seedance 2.0, Seedance 2.0 Fast and Seedance 2.0 Mini, each listed with reference-to-video, video editing and video extension on the BytePlus model list checked 2026-09-15. Seedance 1.5 Pro and 1.0 Pro list text-to-video and image-to-video only, and 1.0 Pro Fast has no last-frame option.
